Host Committee of Docu Film

There are four members in the Host Committee of the festival. They have varied backgrounds and different expertise areas. They are the current execs. More to come on board in time.

Docu Film Execs

Two of the Host Committee members are CA Docu Film execs. Chairwoman of Docu Film is a world renown author. She is also TV executive producer and documentary film maker. President is the other exec. He is a documentary film maker. He ran for Mayor of Palm Springs in 2015.

Strategic Partners

The other Host Committee members are strategic partners. The Principal of Santa Rosa Academy is one of the hosts of two venues. The President of Mt. San Jacinto College is the host of the other venue.

Number of cities will be listed as strategic partners in due process. They will be announced promptly as execs and hosts. Three of them are to hold events in the inaugural year.

Advisory Board

Advisory board is diverse. They are seasoned pros. A NY Times Best-Seller Doctor. A former federal prosecutor & judge. A barrister & judge from Queen’s Court in UK. A manager of a rock star. They are among a dozen other experts.
Celebs and legends also advise and contribute to the Host Committee. So do Oscar winners. Hollywood stars. Media execs. Presidents of select film festivals. Ambassadors of countries with film sectors. Cabinet ministers…

The outlook of the Host Committee members

Members of the Host Committee agree to build the festival one step at a time. And overtime. They view Hollywood elite and film makers as very important. They believe interns and volunteers are essential. Business partners, friends and the VIPs are vital. Visitors are natural part of the festival.

How Chairwoman takes the lead

Chairwoman Daphne Barak is a world renown US network TV scooper of “Big-Gets.” She takes the lead. She first brought on board the Oscar winners. Then worked on Friends.

President Bill Gunasti & Chairwoman Daphne Barak are the execs of CA Docu Film Festival LLC.

After that she brought on board a dozen countries with growing film industries.

In June 2016, she started to focus on business partners. In 2017, the agenda is to reach out to Sponsors and Official Partners. Most of them are expected to become members of the President’s or Chairwoman’s circle.


Daphne Barak pays attention to celebrity power. That’s why she first brought on board Hollywood legends. After that, she invited young talents. She believes that wisdom and youth create great dynamic together.

She has a track record. She achieved major success with her big exclusives over two decades. Her exclusives are historic sit-downs. Amy Winehouse, Eric Clapton, Robert Mugabe, Benazir Bhutto, Princess Diana.. Just to name a few among 300 plus.

They aired on network TVs all over the world. In the US, she has been in prime time TV shows since late 1990s. She made big ratings, prime time, at ABC “20/20,” NBC “Dateline,” and CBS “48 Hours.”

Her interviews are also printed. From Australia to New Zealand, Turkey, Pakistan, Russia, China, S. Africa, Brazil, Italy, UK.. More than two dozen countries.

Some of her exclusives are legendary. “Jackie Chan Showing Hong Kong” was a big hit on Discovery. “Our Son Michael Jackson” reached 1 billion viewers in 53 countries. “Tale of Two Sisters” – the Liza Minnelli and Lorna Luft story also reached almost a billion people. Barak, produced some of these documentaries with Elisabeth Murdoch.

Currently, she produces “ICONS in their own words.” It is a documentary series. Bill Gunasti is also executive producer. Four of them are to be released in the festival in 2016.

“Maestro at Home” is with Andrea Bocelli. “The Kid from Detroit” is Bob Richie, aka Kid Rock. “America’s Son: JFK Jr” is with 37 members of the Kennedy family. “Citizen Shimon” is on Israel and with the former president Shimon Peres.

Robert DeNiro, Henry Kissinger, Lionel Richie, Quincy Jones, Mitt Romney, Sheryl Crow, Kathleen Turner are also part of these four.

Executive Producer of "ICONS in their own words with Daphne Barak" documentary series. Editor of "My Benazir" and "Mama Sarah Obama: Our Dreams and Roots" books. Ran for Mayor of Palm Springs in 2015. Currently, has an exploratory committee to run for US Congress. Worked for 8 prime ministers - Demirel, Inonu, Ciller, Yilmaz, Erbakan, Ecevit, Gul, Erdogan, as a press officer, posted at the United Nations in NYC for 15 years. Speaks 6 languages - 3 fluently.

Laura Badillo - Hosting Director / Santa Rosa Academy

Executive Director and one of the founders of Santa Rosa Academy, a successful public charter school in Menifee, California with a waiting list of over 2300 students. The school has an emphasis on STEM and has fully embraced Project Lead the Way offering engineering and biomedical sciences in grades K-12. Laura has been an educator for over 30 years serving as an administrator for the last 20 years in public schools and holds bachelor and master’s degrees in education.

Dr. Roger Schultz - Hosting Director / Mt San Jacinto College

Superintendent/President of Mt. San Jacinto College, since 2008. Joined MSJC in 2001. Served as interim VP of Instruction and Exec. Dir. of the college’s Foundation. Mt San Jacinto College currently serves more than 21,000 students throughout a 1700 square mile district with five instruction sites, and is currently the fastest growing community college in the state. Dr. Schultz received BA in broadcast journalism fm USC, MA fm USC Annenberg School of Communication and PhD in Leadership for Higher Education from Capella University.
